What is 3D Printing?

3D Printing is a process of making three dimensional objects from a digital model. 3D Printers use different types of materials like plastics and metals to print objects one layer at a time.

One of the coolest things about 3D Printing is that it can be used to make all sorts of things!

That means the technology is versatile and can be used by anyone or any profession from scientists to hobbyists.

Students, medical professionals, architects, designers, chefs, detectives, and archeologists all employ 3D printing technology to help them with their work.

Some applications of 3D printing used today include rapid prototyping, design and architecture, medicine, and even cuisine.

The possibilities are up to you! Maybe you want to print all of the planets for a solar system assignment or perhaps design a new kind of spaceship.

There are many ways to learn more about 3D printing! Research different printers, techniques and the science behind the technology using the internet inside your school or local public library.
